The Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State, Anthony Aziegbeni on Thursday reacted to giving the Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki an automatic ticket to contest under the party.
Aizegbeni was speaking during an interview on Channels Television at their breakfast show, Sunrise Daily on Thursday, 28th of May, 2020 and was followed by our correspondent. He said that the door of PDP is opened for the governor to contest in the forthcoming election.
The opposition Chairman however said that there will be no automatic ticket for Obaseki and that he will need to go through the primary to contest with other candidates when the time comes.
He also disclosed that his party will welcome the governor to the party, because he is the governor of the State and that he will be given a waiver to contest under the party.
He lamented the poor treatment melted at the governor by his party, which has led to the poor handling of many things in the State.
Recall that a faction of the ruling All Progressive Party on Wednesday through a consensus, Ize-Iyamu has emerged the candidate for the coming election in Edo State.
Godwin Obaseki has also said that power comes from God and that no man can stop him from emerging as Governor for the second time if it is the will of God for him.
He was also quoted that he is comfortable in his APC home ad confident he will get the ticket to run in the governorship election.
Stakeholders in Edo politics are watching how the drama will end.
