We’ll smoke sea pirates out of Nigerian waterways –  Navy

The Flag Officer in Charge of the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire, has warned sea pirates operating in the waterways to steer clear or be ready to be smoked out by force.

Oluwagbire gave the warning during his maiden inspection of base and units of the Naval Command in NNS Jubilee at Ikot Abasi Local Government Area on Thursday.

“We are coming to smoke sea pirates out of the waterways, we will get them and we will roast them,” the FOC said while speaking with newsmen during the inspection.

The FOC also said that he is on ground to get all the units to know what is happening in his command.

He urged the commander to rejig the operations of the command, and ensure that the boats are out there as it should be for effective coverage of the waterways.

The FOC who urged the command to be more alert as they were always been doing, called on the public to give useful information to the command taht would be useful in apprehending the criminal elements in the society.

“There is one aspect of security that most people don’t understand, it is not only the security agency’s business but its everybody’s business.

“If you see something, share with the security agencies, so that it can help better the society. We are together, we will do it and make the waterways safe and better,” Oluwagbire said.

The highlights of visit was inspection of Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, Mbo LGA, proposed Naval Barracks, Essene, Ikot Abasi LGA, Nigerian Navy Military School, Ikot Ntuen and the newly acquired Girls Model Secondary School at Awa Ubium in Onna LGA and Utaewa, an out post station in Ikot Abasi LGA.
