President Buhari disclosed yesterday that they have uncovered massive fraud in NDDC out of which N3.7 billion has been recovered after a thorough forensic audit of the NDDC was carried out.
A whopping sum of N6 billion has been discovered to have been stolen and about 3.7 billion Naira have already been recovered from directors and contractors of former NDDC board.
President Buhari made this assertion while speaking during the inaugurating the NDDC Advisory Committee at the Executive Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja which comprises of the Governors of the nine states of the Niger Delta, the ministers of Niger Delta and the minister of environment.
The board members were advised to live above board in the discharge of their duty and be accountable in the way they handle the finances of NDDC.
Revealing the in-depth statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Mr Femi Adesina disclosed that a total of 6 billion access has been placed on hold and EFCC has already recovered about 3.7 billion from the former directors and contractors of NDDC.
The President Expressed dissatisfaction over the way the directors and the contractor are handling the finances of NDDC which had resulted in abandoned projects in the Niger Delta regions.
