We Are Not A Beggar – Agege Residents Reject N100 Bread From Obasa

The residents of Agege Area of Lagos State, especially the boys have stopped the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Obasa from distributing 100 naira  for them.

The boys who blocked the distribution bus from accessing their street, wonder why Obasa will give 100 naira bread to a family comprising 5 and more members. We are not a beggars and how will family of 5 share a N100 among themselves.

An eyewitnesses who spoke to us on condition of anonymous at Surulere Street, Baale, Dopemu lamented that it is an insult to give one family a N100 bread. She further explained how the breads were share to the residents, the Obasa boys who came to our street with a bus of N100 bread, enter the house and give a N100 to each room never mind how many people live in the room.

It was reported few days ago that boys in other street collected the bread only to use it to play ball.

The Speaker may have good intention for the palliative support for his constituencies but the people that draw the modality of sharing the food for the people need to listen to the yearning of the people covered by the good gesture. A change of approach tfor the distribution method should be employed.
