Tinubu Will Announce His Preferred Igbo Senate President On Monday, Gbajabiamila May Be CoS -Source

A top lawmaker of the All Progressives Congress, has revealed that the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made his final decision to announce his preferred Igbo senate president on Monday, while the incumbent Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila may be his Chief of Staff (CoS). The lawmaker who claimed anonymity spoke in an interview with Nigerian Tribune said that the President-Elect has confined in them (APC leaders) his commitment to support the emergence of a Senate President from the Southeast for the sake of equity, fairness and justice, thus maintaining the balance of power and a sense of inclusion.
The source revealed the President-elect, Bola is expected to reveal his South-East Senate President during the closed door meeting with the APC leaders on Monday. The source added that Tinubu is fully committed to a Senate President of South-East extraction because he believes it is the right thing to do and the move will also calm frayed nerves in the South-East. And also because he wants to prevent unnecessary spending, bad blood lobbying which might culminate to hijacking of the National Assembly like it happened in 2015.
The source said, “For balance of power, our President elect understands that to have a rancor free administration, every region must be carried along and the South East is very paramount to him. On Monday, Tinubu will announce his preferred Igbo senate president and I observed that the incumbent Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila is being considered as the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Senator Tinubu. For balance of power, our President elect understands that to have a rancor free administration, every region must be carried along and the South East is very paramount to him”.
