A man identified as Aluko Ramoni a timber contractor was struck down by lighting while cutting an iroko tree in ifira Akoko, an area of Ondo State.
Iroko tree is a traditional tree that takes sacrifices from the traditional worshippers. It is regarded as an unordinary tree which should not be used for any other purposes apart from worshipping it.
Aluko Ramoni’s death reportedly to have caused a commotion in the community as people struggle to have look at the corpse.
Vanguard news reports that the man’s corpse was quarantined as some traditional worshippers were invited to convey his corpse to his hometown in Supare, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.
However, where his corpse should be buried reportedly generated controversies.
The traditional worshippers reportedly insisted that he should be buried in the forest, going by the cause of his death. But his family members preferred that he be buried at home.
