SDP to pick Babatunde Fashola as presidential candidate. The Social Democratic Party SDP has made all necessary arrangement to pick Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing as the presidential candidate. The party also made it known that about 3 PDP governors, 2 APC governors and 35 senators are set to join SDP.

The National Publicity Secretary Mr Alfa Mohammed revealed that the party will form a majority in the National Assembly before the start of 2019 general election. People are starting joining the party enmass from other political parties. Likeminded Nigerians from the political class and the civil society organisations came together and began the search for a new political platform that is credible and capable of ushering in a credible government that will implement the people’s programme comes 2019.

SDP to pick Babatunde Fashola as presidential candidate

A top source from the party revealed to that the party has tabled some prominent Nigerians who are capable to confront the current president of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 presidential election. About 6 names were mentioned but the name that struct our mind is the name of Babatunde Fashola the current Minister of Power, Works and Housing. The party is also making serious move to woo the Minister to the party. They believe Fashola is capable to fill the leadership vacuum created as a result of bad governance. According to them, Fashola has integrity and capacity to perform.

The party National Publicity Secretary also talked about Prof Jerry Gana and described him as a political asset of the party. He said You cannot remove the popularity from Prof. Gana in the Nigerian politics; you cannot divorce him from the politics of the Middle Belt. So, he is an electoral asset to any party. he also revealed that the party enjoys the backing of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
