Ron DeSantis defeats Andrew Gillum to win Florida Governor’s Race

Ron DeSantis has been elected the Governor of Florida State. He defeated the Democrat Andrew Gillum on Tuesday midterm United State elections.

NYTimes reports that Andrew Gillum has already conceded defeat to Ron DeSantis in Florida governorship race. Mr Gillum conceded the race at around 11 p.m. after running behind most of the night. “We could not be prouder of the way we ran this race,” he told supporters at Florida A&M University. “We recognize that we didn’t win this tonight.”

Gillum told supporters that he had called DeSantis to concede.

“We recognize that we didn’t win it tonight, we didn’t win this transaction,” he said. “But I want y’all to know that is just it, a transaction. That what we believe in still holds true today.”

In what appears to be the sweetest victory, Ron DeSantis thanked President Trump for standing by him “when it wasn’t necessarily the smart thing to do.”

He said he had prevailed even as “the political media class seemed eager to write our obituary.”

“As governor, I’ll make sure that Florida remains a low-tax state,”
