reasons why Buhari will not sign Peace Corps Bill into law. The President  of Nigeria Muhammad Buhari rejected to assent the bill establishment of Peace Corps of Nigeria. Well Buhari has transmitted letter to the National Assembly stated 5 reasons why Buhari will not sign Peace Corps Bill into law.

The President written to Green chamber of NASS citing the section 68(4) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), stating clearly why he rejected the bill.

  1. A security concerns regarding the proposed Nigeria Peace Corps bill being authorized to undertake activities currently being performed by extant security and law enforcement agencies
  2. “Financial implication of funding the establishment and operations of the proposed Nigeria Peace Corps, given the scarce financial resources may pose serious challenge to the government

Recall that the House of Representative had passed the bill establishing Peace Corps in Nigeria. And the bill has been sent to Mr. President for assent. The bill did not get Mr. President approval so operation of Peace Corps in Nigeria remains illegal.
