Over 30 loggers abducted by Boko Haram
The kidnapping was reported t have happened after 30 troops disappeared following the sect raid on a military base in the same region.
Sources revealed that the loggers were mostly teenagers who had left their hometown in Gamboru along the Cameroon border to get firewood in the area controlled by the terrorist and ever since been not found. it was ; later believed that the loggers are in the sect’s custody.
A militia Shehu Mada in the town narrated saying “We believe Boko Haram abducted them to use them as fighters, given their young age,” Mada said. “They (Boko Haram) abandon the bodies of their victims when they kill them but the fact that the bodies of the loggers have not been seen is clear indication they were abducted,” he said
Even after several declarations by the Nigerian army with claims of victory against the Boko Haram fighters, the group continues to launch sporadic attacks, on civilians, ambushing troops and vehicles, as well as attacking and abducting farmers. Last week two farmers were reportedly shot by jihadists while harvesting their farm.
The jihadist fighters have recently increased their attack on loggers, believing them to be spy for the Nigerian military.
