Odunlade Adekola, Omotola, Femi Adebayo win big at AMVCA 2018

Odunlade Adekola won the best Actor in Comedy in the Movies ‘A Million Baby’ while Femi Adebayo won the best indigenous Movies and TV series ahead of his father Adebayo Salami. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde emerged as best actress.

Africa Magic Viewers Chioce Awards (AMVCA) 2018 was held at the Eko Convention Centre situated inside the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos on September 1, 2018 saw movie star across Africa gathered at the venue.

In the best actor in comedy category, the most loved Yoruba actor Odunlade Adekola emerged the winner ahead of others nominees like Jimmy Olukoya, Kalu Ikeagwu, Blossom Chukwujekwu, IK Ogbonna. A Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang won the award for the Best Actor in a drama or TV series for his role in the movie, Keteke.

Omo sexy, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde came home with one of the best award of the night. She was crowned as the best actress in Nigeria. The movie Alter Ego gave Omotola the Crown. Congrat.


The Kenya Movie ’18 Hours’ emerged as the best overall movie of the AMVCA 2018 which is regarded as the best award. 18 Hours beats other nominated movies like Potato Potahto by Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Alter Ego by Moses Inwang, Devil’s Chest by Hassan Mageye, Descent by Awal Abdulfatai and The Road to Sunrise and Shemu Joyah.

However Femi Adebayo knocked out father to win the best indigenous Movies and TV series. Fami Adebayo’s father Adebayo Salami was nominated for the category but his son win the award ahead of him.
