Former U.S President, Barack Obama has expressed sadness over the sudden demise of American-born rock-n-roll singer, Tina Turner.

His condolence message is contained in a tweet posted on his verified Twitter page.

The former president described her as the “Queen of Rock and Roll whose light will never fade.”

In his tweet, Obama wrote; “Tina Turner was raw. She was powerful. She was unstoppable. And she was unapologetically herself—speaking and singing her truth through joy and pain; triumph and tragedy.

“Today we join fans around the world in honoring the Queen of Rock and Roll, and a star whose light will never fade.”

Her death was announced on Wednesday evening by Bernard Doherty, her longtime publicist. She died at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, near Zurich. She was 83-years-old.
