Nobody can challenge me in my constituency – Ekweremadu boast as he declares for fifth time

The Senator Representing Enugu West Senatorial District and Deputy Senate President Dr. Ike Ekweremadu has declared to represent his constituency for the record fifth times. Ekweremadu was elected into the House of Senate in 2003.

The Deputy Senate President disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday Morning. He noted that the people of his constituency persuaded him to returned to Senate in 2019. He said:

“My people, the good people of Enugu West Senatorial District, including the Enugu West Peoples Assembly, Members of the National Assembly, Council Chairmen, members of the Enugu State Executive Council, Enugu State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, leaders of the PDP from Enugu West, among others gave me a surprise on Sunday

“They presented to me the PDP nomination form for the Senate, which they purchased for me, requesting that I return to the Senate in 2019. “My people, my primary employers have spoken. I have no choice than to humbly accept to run for the Senate again”

Now Ekweremadu is spending his 15 years in the Senate. By Next year he will complete 16 years. He is indirectly telling people of his constituency that nobody can challenge him.

Deputy Senate President won the first election into Senate May 2003 when Chimaroke Nnamani was governor of Enugu state. He retained the seat in 2007 when Sullivan Chime on 29 May 2007 took over from Chimaroke. Sullivan served for two terms before handing over to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Gborugboru is still serving for his first term and Ekweremadu is still retaining his seat. Numerically Ekweremadu has served for fifteen (15) consecutive years.
