Nigeria vs Egypt: Why Augustine Eguavoen Should Consider Using Two Defensive Midfielders In The Match

The Nigerian National Team have successfully arrived at Garoua in Cameroon today as they will be anticipating their first fixture of the forthcoming AFCON tournament.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will lock tight horns with Egypt in their first game of the AFCON 2021 which is said to take place at the Stade Roumde Adjia on Tuesday evening.

Just like every other top nation in the competition, the Super Eagles will be looking to win their first game by defeating the Egyptian National Team in order to claim all three important points in the group stage.

Well, this fixture won’t possibly be a walk in the park for the Super Eagles as they will be up against an evenly matched Egyptian side stacked with lots of quality players that could do damage to Nigeria.

Well, for the Super Eagles to avoid a shocking defeat to Egypt, I think Augustine Eguavoen should consider using two defensive Midfielders in the match. The Super Eagles interim manager should a smart decision of playing two defensive Midfielders in Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka against Egypt.

These two players will help make the Super Eagles very solid defensively in order to avoid conceding goals against Egypt. Normally and honestly speaking, Nigeria doesn’t have a strong defense to withhold the threat Egypt might pose in the match.

Playing two strong defensive midfielders will help strengthen the Super Eagles’ defensive department against Egypt and make it impenetrable. If this decision is made by Augustine Eguavoen then the Super Eagles will be able to score goals without having any worries of defensive fails against Egypt. A stronger backline is very key for the Super Eagles if they want to defeat Mohamed Salah’s Egypt in the AFCON on Tuesday.
