Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is currently in the form of his life after a torrid and horrible start to his United career.
The former Southampton man joined the Red Devils in 2014 but failed to impress in the first three seasons at the Old Trafford Stadium.
The player was heavily criticized by former United manager Louis van Gaal during the Dutchman’s reign at the club.
As if that wasn’t enough, Mourinho, who took over from the Van Gaal, publicly criticized the England international for putting on weight rather than focus on his dwindling form.
After so much criticism; private talks, and encouragement from the Portuguese manager, Luke Shaw finally returned to his fine form as he’s being Mourinho’s most outstanding player so far this campaign.
Shaw hasn’t just defended well, he has equally added more depth and attacking threats to the team as he frequently linkup with the team’s attackers.
Commenting on Shaw’s transformation, Sky Sports pundit Mark Schwarzer admits Mourinho deserves to be praised for the player’s recent performances.
“You’ve got to give Jose Mourinho credit for turning this kid around and getting into his head for making him turn around,” he said
According to Schwarzer who was with the Portuguese manager during his spell at Chelsea, Mourinho ought to have called the player in private and have a heart-to-heart talk with him.
He further heaps praises on the player for turning things around.
“Luke Shaw has to be credited because he’s done the work himself so the penny has dropped as well.”
Shaw recently signed a five-year contract with the Premier League giants and he is expected to remain at Old Trafford till 2023 if no suitors snatch him from Mourinho’s watch.
