The 23-year-old Namibian lady, Emma Theofilus, has been appointed as the country’s deputy information and technology minister.
Emma’s appointment has made her Namibia’s youngest minister and member of the parliament, Face 2 Face with the Africa reports.
The deputy minister said, “Emma’s appointment was criticised by the country’s old elites, questioning her capacity and competence”. he said.
This has being the main reason why she was not elected in the first place because of the doubt of her capacity and competence.
The young minister replied to what the old elites said to her about the questioning of her capacity and competence.
“I do not think I am special, but I do not think I am inexperienced, and I do not think of me being young or being female has anything to do with my appointment has the minister and MP”.
In reaction to what the old elites said about the young minister, the deputy minister said “she is not inexperienced and she would be able to do anything she sets out to do”.said the deputy minister.
