President Buhari announced the total lockdown of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun starting today March 30th and running to 13th of April 2020. Lagosians are reacting to the total lockdown and probably how the people of Lagos will spend the compulsory holiday.
Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu has directed all the shop owners, Companies etc not to forget to switch off their appliances, remove all the inflammable materials before embarking on the total lockdown.
My State News took to the street in Lagos, we observed that the major street in Lagos is empty, however, we spotted some heavy truck on the major express road.
Our correspondents took time to talk to some people, and some of their responses are hilarious, a resident in Ifako-Ijaiye identified as Mrs Toyosi, reveals that life will not be easy during the period of 14 days lockdown. She noted some of the advantages of the lockdown period, she said women will enjoy their husband who has no option than to stay at home with their wives.
Another lady who preferred not to be named said the lockdown her watch over and over the same movie. She is already feeling boring at home. No outing it won’t be easy at. I have bought clothes for two parties but now the parties will not hold again. She revealed that those who have fix day for their party has to call it off.
All the people we talk to disclose how they will spend the compulsory holiday. Some of them said feeding will be difficult since income will not come in and the Government not willing to give us palliative package during the period.
My State News also scan through the Twitter, We observe that Lagosians have already taken to Twitter to discuss the 14 days lockdown. We get some of the reactions below:
Individual schemes that many of us do to support majority poor and vulnerable 60-70% of our population cannot suffice. @NigeriaGov has to better respond to the consequent economic & humanitarian crisis from an absolutely necessary #Lockdown.
FG, design a major Support Scheme.
