The former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan has extended a congratulatory message to the former Minister of Finance Okonjo Iweala over her appointment as a member of South Africa economic Council.
The City Watch Nigeria learnt that Okonjo Iweala make this made this known on her Twitter handle when she tweets and wrote “With president Ramaphosa, members of the cabinet and members of Presidential economic advisory council in Pretoria discussing sources of growth for the South Africa Economic and win-win economic interactions with the continent”
She, however, shared her pictures with President of the South Africa Ramaphosa and other members of the presidential economic advisory council in Pretoria. Ever since then the news of Okonjo Iweala has gone viral and has generated a lot of reactions from Nigeria top hierarchy.
The recent reaction is coming from the Former President Goodluck Jonathan who worked closely with this woman and he knows her capacity to use our intellectual deposition to handle any economy in the world. Okonjo Iweala was first appointed by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the Minister of Finance in 2003. She performed creditably well to write off many of Nigeria foreign debt during her tenure as a minister of finance in Nigeria.
With her outstanding performances Former president, Goodluck Jonathan re-appointed her the Nigeria Minister of finance and the coordinators of Nigeria economy.
Goodluck Jonathan took to his Facebook page to send a congratulatory message to his former appointee.
He wrote “I congratulate Dr.Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who served as the coordinating minister for the economy/finance minister in my cabinet, on her appointment as a member of South Africa’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
As a two-time minister in Nigeria, you left indelible marks as an astute manager of the nation’s economy and resources. I am delighted that you have continued to place your substantial wealth of experience as a development economist at the service of many nations and international organisations to aid global growth and progress.
I have no doubt in my mind that you will excel in the new assignment.
