Ekiti TV and Radio shut after Fayose declared PDP candidate winner of Ekiti election

Ekiti State Broadcasting Corporation which comprises of Ekiti TV and Radio shut down after Fayose made shocking announcement and declared PDP candidate Prof Olusola Eleka winner of Saturday July 14 governorship election when the election result was still collating. The stations was shut down by the regulatory body Nigeria Broadcasting Commission

The Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose could have been arrested if not the immunity because no other body of person has right to declare election result unless the body saddle with the responsibility which Independence Electoral Commission INEC.

It was reported that the INEC was still collating results of the election, awaiting electronic computation from the 16 council areas in the state to the INEC headquarters when the NBC ordered the closure.

Ekiti TV and Radio shut as a result of Fayose’s declaration.

The INEC headquarters was condoned off as results were being awaited.

However, no winner had emerged as of the time the governor reportedly made the announcement, and the broadcasting regulatory agency gave the order.
