COVID-19 Lockdown: Prostitutes Beg Customers For Sex, Reduce Price To N200 In Lagos

The COVID-19 lockdown is affecting the sex workers in Lagos, especially in Ifako-Ijaiye where our team are reporting. Many Hotels are locked due to the coronavirus, this has led the sex worker in very low patronage and for the survival, most prostitutes are begging customers for sex as low as N200.

The City Watch Nigeria visited one of the popular prostitutes’ hotels in Ifako-Ijaiye, a sex worker who preferred not to be named, narrated how the COVID-19 lockdown has affected their business, She said normally she makes about 5000 – 10000 daily but since the lockdown, we barely make 1000 a day. some customers who manage to come in complaining of lack of money. We can only put a call through our customers we have their contacts. Sometimes I collected just N200 for a round of sex.

Another girl who also pleaded anonymously said she never make any money since the beginning of the lockdown. She reveals that something she charges as low as N200 to keep body and soul together. She pleaded that the lockdown should not be extended.

Apart from sex workers, many people we talked to, complain about one challenge or the other. They want the Lagos State Government and Federal Government to end the lockdown.
