An autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death of Nasarawa United player Chineme Martins who slumped and died during a league match against Katsina United. The League Management Company disclosed that autopsy to establish the cause of the player’s death will soon be completed and the result will be made known to the public.
My State News early reported that Martins Chineme, a Nasarawa United footballer in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, died on Sunday during a league match with Katsina United in Lafia. Martins Cheneme who played the role of defender slumped and later confirmed dead.
The Governor of Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule has promised that his government will support the family of Mr Chineme Martins.
This was disclosed by Gov. Sule, Secretary to the State Governor (SSG), Aliyu Tijani among other top government functionaries were among the spectators at the stadium the defender suddenly slumped at the extra time of the first half of the encounter while the ball was at the opponent’s half, according to report by News Agency of Nigeria.
