Arsenal’s U18 striker Folarin Balogun is looking more likely to make his first team debut this season after another mouthwatering performance against Reading on Saturday.
The 17-year-old was in fine form prior to the game against Reading in the youth League games as he already scored five goals and one assist.
He continued to show his ruthlessness in front of goal by scoring three wonderful goals to give the young Gunners a 4-2 victory over their bitter rivals.
Balogun’s goalscoring form is one of the reasons why Unai Emery invited the youngster to train with the senior team during the recent international break.
The Spaniard wants to have a close look at his quality to determine if the youngster is ready for a call-up to the first team before the end of this season.
With Balogun’s hat trick during the weekend, it is obvious that Balogun’s class is far beyond the youth level and he should be given seldom chance to feature for Unai Emery’s team.
However, Eddie Nketiah might be a huge block on Balogun’s transition into Emery’s squad. This is because Nketiah has been with the senior team since the days of Arsene Wenger and it would be difficult for Emery to drop him for an inexperienced player, who is just learning the trade.
It remains unknown if the former Paris St-German manager would consider Balogun in his team squad for Thursday’s Europa League encounter against Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
