APC senators set to impeach Saraki on Tuesday

The Senators elected in the platform of All Progressives Congress have vowed to go ahead on impeachment of Senate President Bukola Saraki when the Senate reconvenes on Tuesday.

APC senators will raise the leader of the senate issue on Tuesday as party of the agenda while the Pro-Saraki and PDP Senators have vowed to resist any attempt to effect change of Senate leadership.

It was learnt that senators, who are loyal to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, were insisting that the only agenda would be the consideration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s budget for the 2019 elections.

Speaking on the Issue, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, who is a member of the Parliamentary Support Group, a group of President Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalists in the National Assembly, said the APC senators would use every opportunity to seek Saraki’s exit from the senate presidency.

According to him, there are legal and moral reasons for Saraki to quit the Senate presidency.

In the opposite view, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, dared anti-Saraki lawmakers to come to the Senate and impeach the Senate President. He stated that only two-thirds majority of anti-Saraki lawmakers could effect his impeachment.

He recalled that the Senate President had at the press conference on Wednesday said he was ready to leave the seat once the constitutional requirement was met.

The APC National chairman Adams Oshiomhole has vowed that Saraki will be impeached because of the role he played in delaying 2018 budget. He also accused him of working again the agenda of APC government even when he was the member of the party.
